Our S4 Visual Arts students recently visited GATE33 Gallery to attend the exhibition "The Cha Chaan Teng Codex — Tales of Invisible Designs." Centred on Hong Kong’s iconic café culture, the exhibition utilized visual design, recreated vintage "Bing Sutt" scenes, and a 1:1 interactive tea station (shui ba) to deconstruct the hidden logic behind tea restaurant layouts, meal delivery workflows, and historical evolution.
Through this immersive experience, students gained a deeper understanding of neon signage, tableware design, and the cultural essence of local life. The visit highlighted the unique value of the Cha Chaan Teng as a vital carrier of Hong Kong’s identity. This activity successfully broadened our students' cultural horizons, sharpened their powers of observation, and allowed them to truly feel the beauty of local aesthetics and urban heritage.
